Acclimatisation

The physiological adjustment of an organism to gradual changes in its environment, such as temperature, altitude, or salinity. This process involves reversible alterations in an individual's metabolism or organ function to maintain homeostasis under new conditions. It differs from genetic adaptation, which involves heritable changes over generations.
