Acclimation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000110

The physiological adjustment of an individual organism to a new environmental condition, typically occurring over a relatively short period. This process involves reversible changes in metabolic rates, enzyme activity, or other biological functions to cope with altered temperature, light, or chemical exposure. It is a form of phenotypic plasticity, not genetic adaptation.
