Temperature sensitivity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011854

The property of a biological system, such as a neuron or a whole organism, where its function is altered by changes in temperature. This can manifest as changes in neuronal firing rates, enzyme activity, or behavioral responses that are dependent on ambient temperature. For example, certain mutations can cause ion channels to function correctly only within a narrow temperature range, leading to paralysis or other deficits at higher or lower temperatures.
