Salinity

The total concentration of all dissolved salts in water, primarily sodium chloride, but also including magnesium, calcium, and potassium salts. It is a measure of the amount of dissolved inorganic solids in a given mass of water. Salinity is often expressed in parts per thousand (ppt) or practical salinity units (psu).
