Chlorinity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002016

A measure of the chloride content in a water sample, historically used as an indicator of salinity, particularly in seawater. It is defined as the mass of chloride in grams per kilogram of seawater, assuming all halides are chloride. Chlorinity is typically determined by titration with silver nitrate.
