Internal reference electrode
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005969
An electrode with a stable and reproducible potential, placed inside the ion-selective membrane of an ion-selective electrode (ISE). It is immersed in an internal filling solution containing ions to which the reference electrode is reversible and ions for which the membrane is selective. A common example is a silver/silver chloride electrode immersed in a solution of potassium chloride and the primary ion.
