An abiotic environmental factor that influences the functioning of a living organism but is not consumed or used up by it. Examples include temperature, humidity, pH, and salinity, which can affect an organism's growth, reproduction, and survival. Unlike a resource, which is depleted by consumption, a condition's presence or level is not diminished by the organisms it affects.
