Back scatter coefficient

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001068

The ratio of the number of particles (such as electrons or ions) scattered back from a target material to the number of incident particles. This coefficient quantifies the probability of an incident particle undergoing a large-angle scattering event. It is a dimensionless quantity that depends on the atomic number of the target and the energy of the incident particles.
