Primary electrons
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009426
Electrons originating directly from an electron source, such as an electron gun in an electron microscope or a cathode ray tube. These electrons possess the initial kinetic energy imparted by the source before any interactions with a sample. Their energy typically ranges from a few electronvolts to several hundred kiloelectronvolts.
