Absorbed electrons
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000065
Primary electrons that penetrate a sample and lose their kinetic energy within the material, rather than being backscattered or transmitted. These electrons contribute to the generation of characteristic X-rays and other signals used in electron microscopy and microanalysis. The number of absorbed electrons is inversely related to the backscattered electron yield.
