Amnion

The innermost fetal membrane that forms a fluid-filled sac, the amniotic cavity, directly surrounding and protecting the developing embryo or fetus. This membrane secretes amniotic fluid, which cushions the fetus, regulates temperature, and allows for fetal movement. It is a key component of the amniotic sac.
