Amniotic sac

A fluid-filled membrane that surrounds and protects a developing embryo or fetus within the uterus. This sac contains amniotic fluid, which cushions the fetus from external impacts, maintains a constant temperature, and allows for fetal movement and lung development. The sac typically ruptures just before or during childbirth.
