Amniote
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012866
A vertebrate animal whose embryo develops within an amnion, a protective membrane that forms a fluid-filled sac. This group includes reptiles, birds, and mammals, all of which lay eggs on land or carry the embryo internally. The amnion, along with the chorion and allantois, provides a terrestrial adaptation for reproduction.
