Extraembryonic membrane

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004299

Specialized tissues that develop from the zygote but are not part of the embryo itself, providing support, protection, and nourishment during embryonic development. These membranes include the amnion, chorion, yolk sac, and allantois, each serving distinct functions in different vertebrate species. In mammals, they contribute to the formation of the placenta.
