Amplitude of alternating voltage

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000526

The maximum value or peak magnitude of an alternating voltage, measured from the zero level to the crest of the waveform. In electroanalytical chemistry, this parameter defines the size of the sinusoidal potential perturbation applied to an electrode. For a pure sinusoidal waveform, the amplitude is distinct from the root mean square (RMS) voltage, which is calculated as the amplitude divided by the square root of two.
