Alternating voltage
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000457
An electrical potential difference that periodically reverses its polarity, causing an alternating current to flow in a circuit. The magnitude of an alternating voltage also varies continuously over time, commonly in a sinusoidal pattern. In electrochemistry, alternating voltages are applied to electrodes to probe electrochemical reactions and determine kinetic parameters.
