Direct current

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003252

An electric current that flows in only one direction, with a magnitude that is either constant or varies slowly with time. In electroanalytical chemistry, it is applied in techniques like DC polarography and coulometry to drive electrochemical reactions at a working electrode. Unlike alternating current, which periodically reverses direction, direct current maintains a constant polarity.
