Anastomosis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000571
A natural or surgical connection between two tubular structures, such as blood vessels, ducts, or loops of intestine. This connection allows for the flow of fluids or substances between the connected parts, bypassing other sections or creating alternative pathways. In the circulatory system, an arteriovenous anastomosis directly connects an artery and a vein.
