Arteriovenous fistula

An abnormal connection or passageway formed directly between an artery and a vein, bypassing the capillaries. This can be congenital or acquired due to trauma, infection, or medical procedures. The direct connection leads to increased blood flow and pressure in the vein, potentially causing complications.
