Arteriovenous

Relating to or connecting both an artery and a vein. The term describes anatomical structures, physiological processes, or medical conditions that involve a communication or pathway between the arterial and venous circulatory systems. Examples include an arteriovenous malformation, which is a tangle of abnormal blood vessels, or an arteriovenous fistula, a direct connection between an artery and a vein.
