Extraction ratio

The fraction of a substance that is removed from the blood as it passes through an organ, typically the liver or kidney. This ratio indicates the efficiency of an organ in clearing a substance from the circulation. It is calculated as the difference between the arterial and venous concentrations divided by the arterial concentration.
