Spiral arteriole
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013589
A small artery that supplies blood to the functional layer of the endometrium in the uterus. These blood vessels undergo pronounced growth and remodeling during the menstrual cycle under the influence of estrogen and progesterone. During pregnancy, they are remodeled to provide a low-resistance blood supply to the developing placenta.
