Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000645
The complete loss of the sense of smell, which is the inability to perceive odors. In neurotoxicology, it is recognized as a potential adverse effect resulting from exposure to certain chemicals that damage the olfactory nerve or the olfactory epithelium. The condition is diagnosed through olfactometry, which involves standardized tests to measure a subject's ability to detect and identify specific scents.
