Back-up compound
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001089
A molecule chosen to stand in for the lead drug candidate if that candidate fails in later preclinical evaluation or in clinical studies. It is selected to be pharmacologically equivalent to the lead but to differ substantially in structure. A different core scaffold from the lead's is regarded as the best arrangement.
