Biostability
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001324
The ability of a polymer or material to resist chemical or physical changes when exposed to a biological environment, such as the human body or specific microorganisms. It describes the material's resistance to degradation processes like hydrolysis, oxidation, or enzymatic attack over a defined period. Biostability is a key property for materials used in long-term medical implants, where maintaining structural integrity and avoiding the release of harmful byproducts is necessary.
