Enzymatic degradation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003998
The breakdown of a polymer or other macromolecule into smaller fragments through the action of enzymes. These biological catalysts facilitate the cleavage of specific chemical bonds within the polymer chain. This process is a key mechanism in the biodegradation of many natural and synthetic polymers.
