Photocorrosion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008833
The degradation of a material, typically a semiconductor, due to chemical reactions induced by light absorption. This process involves the photo-generated charge carriers reacting with the material itself or with species in the surrounding environment, leading to dissolution or structural changes. It is a major challenge in the long-term stability of photocatalytic systems.
