Coherent unit
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002185
A unit of measurement that is a derived unit in a given system of units and is formed from the base units of that system by multiplication or division without any numerical factor other than one. For example, in the International System of Units (SI), the unit of force, the newton (N), is a coherent unit defined as kg·m·s⁻². This contrasts with non-coherent units that require conversion factors.
