Cohort study

An observational epidemiological study design that follows a group of individuals (a cohort) over time to determine the incidence of disease or other outcomes. Researchers identify a cohort based on exposure to a particular agent or characteristic and compare their outcomes to a control group without that exposure. This type of study can be prospective or retrospective, with prospective studies following participants into the future.
