Colour indicator

A substance that changes color in response to a chemical change, typically a change in pH or the presence of a specific chemical species. It is used to visually signal the completion of a chemical reaction, such as in titrations. Phenolphthalein, which changes from colorless to pink around pH 8.2-10.0, is a common example.
