Colourability

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002254

A quantitative measure of the extent of coloration of a photochromic material upon irradiation at a specific wavelength. It is defined as the product of the quantum yield for the forward photochromic reaction (the coloring process) and the molar absorption coefficient of the photogenerated colored species at a monitoring wavelength. The units of colourability are L mol⁻¹ cm⁻¹.
