Indicator consumption error

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005770

The error in a titrimetric analysis caused by the volume of titrant required to react with the indicator itself, rather than solely with the analyte. This error arises because the indicator changes color at a specific pH or potential, consuming a small amount of titrant. It can be corrected by performing a blank titration.
