Constant neutral mass loss spectrum

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002464

A mass spectrum generated by scanning the first and second mass analyzers of a tandem mass spectrometer synchronously, such that the mass of the neutral species lost in a collision cell remains constant. This method is used to detect ions that undergo a specific fragmentation pathway involving the expulsion of a particular neutral molecule. The mass difference between the precursor ion and the product ion is held at a fixed value.
