Fixed neutral loss scan
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004459
A mass spectrometry scanning mode where the mass spectrometer is set to detect all precursor ions that undergo a specific, predetermined neutral loss upon fragmentation. Both the first and second mass analyzers are scanned synchronously, maintaining a constant mass difference. This technique is used to identify compounds containing a common functional group that fragments in a characteristic way.
