Fixed ions
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004458
Ions that are covalently bonded to or permanently immobilized within the stationary phase of an ion exchanger. These ions possess a charge opposite to that of the mobile counter-ions, facilitating the exchange process. The charge and density of fixed ions determine the ion exchange capacity of the material.
