Ion-exchange chromatography
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006100
A chromatographic separation technique that separates ions and polar molecules based on their reversible electrostatic interactions with a stationary phase bearing charged functional groups. The separation occurs as analytes compete with counter-ions in the mobile phase for binding sites on the resin. This method is widely used for the separation of proteins, amino acids, and inorganic ions.
