Ligand exchange chromatography
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006568
A chromatographic separation technique that relies on the reversible formation of coordination complexes between metal ions immobilized on a stationary phase and certain analytes in the mobile phase. The analytes, acting as ligands, compete with other ligands for binding sites on the metal ions, leading to differential retention and separation. This method is particularly effective for separating enantiomers and other polar compounds.
