Co-ions
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002193
Ions in an electrolyte solution that have the same charge sign as the fixed charges on an ion exchanger or charged surface. These ions are typically excluded from the immediate vicinity of the charged surface due to electrostatic repulsion. In ion exchange chromatography, co-ions are the mobile ions that do not bind to the stationary phase.
