Coulomb repulsion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002625
The electrostatic repulsive force that arises between two particles carrying charges of the same sign. This force is inversely proportional to the square of the distance separating the particles and directly proportional to the product of their charges. In molecular systems, Coulomb repulsion contributes to the overall energy and influences molecular geometry and stability.
