Cooxidation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002568
The oxidation of a compound that occurs simultaneously with the oxidation of another compound, where the oxidation of the first compound is dependent on the presence and metabolism of the second. This process often involves enzymes that are not specific to the cooxidized substrate. It is a form of cometabolism, frequently observed in microbial degradation of environmental pollutants.
