Cumulative effect
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002775
The total change that builds up across successive exposures to a chemical or to radiation, each one adding to the response already produced by earlier ones. One route is accumulation of the agent in the body because intake outpaces elimination. Another is irreversible damage that adds up from dose to dose even though the agent is cleared completely between them.
