Diverticulum

A blind-ending pouch or sac that branches out from a hollow organ, tube, or cavity within the body. These structures can be congenital, arising during embryonic development as a malformation, or acquired later in life due to pressure within an organ. A Meckel diverticulum is a common congenital example, occurring in the small intestine as a remnant of the omphalomesenteric duct.
