Hydrocele
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005459
An accumulation of serous fluid within a body cavity, specifically the tunica vaginalis, which is the membranous sac that surrounds the testis. This condition results from an imbalance between fluid secretion and absorption by the lining of the sac, causing swelling in the scrotum. A hydrocele can be congenital, due to a persistent connection with the abdominal cavity, or acquired later in life.
