Pleural cavity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009039
The potential space between the visceral pleura, which covers the lungs, and the parietal pleura, which lines the inner wall of the thoracic cavity. This space normally contains a small amount of serous fluid that reduces friction during breathing. Accumulation of excess fluid or air in this cavity can impair lung function.
