Diversity-oriented synthesis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003358
A synthetic chemistry strategy that aims to produce a collection of structurally different small molecules from a common starting material or intermediate. The approach uses branching reaction pathways to rapidly generate molecular complexity and explore a broad area of chemical space. This method contrasts with target-oriented synthesis, which focuses on creating a single, specific molecular structure.
