Diversity index

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003357

A quantitative measure that reflects the variety and relative abundance of different species or types within a given ecological community. It combines information on both species richness (number of species) and evenness (distribution of individuals among species). Common examples include the Shannon-Wiener index and Simpson's index, which provide a single numerical value for comparison.
