Shannon-Wiener diversity index

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010797

A quantitative measure used in ecology to assess the biodiversity of a community, taking into account both the number of species (species richness) and their relative abundance (species evenness). A higher index value indicates greater diversity within the community. It is calculated using the proportion of individuals belonging to each species.
