Ecotone

A transitional zone between two distinct ecological communities or ecosystems, where characteristics of both adjacent areas are present. This boundary region often exhibits higher biodiversity and unique species assemblages compared to the neighboring communities. It is a dynamic area influenced by the interactions between the two ecosystems.
