Erosion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004086
The process by which a polymeric material loses mass or degrades from its surface due to chemical or physical action. This can involve the dissolution of polymer chains, the breaking of chemical bonds, or the physical removal of material. In biomedical applications, erosion of biodegradable polymers is designed to occur at a controlled rate.
