Gauss
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004782
A unit of magnetic flux density in the centimeter-gram-second (CGS) electromagnetic system. One gauss is defined as one maxwell per square centimeter. This unit is still sometimes encountered, but the SI unit for magnetic flux density is the tesla (T), where 1 tesla equals 10,000 gauss.
